BMV Endowed Chairs of Cycling

By providing 11.6 million euros, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) has helped establish seven endowed chairs of cycling. The endowed chairs strengthen interdisciplinary research and teaching on cycling and sustainable mobility in the long term. They conduct research on important cycling topics, including traffic planning, road safety and logistics. They also test new technologies, establish strong cooperation networks and feed the latest findings on the subject directly into the training of future specialist staff.

Our funding of the endowed chairs of cycling has made it possible to build urgently needed expertise for the mobility of tomorrow. Once the Ministry funding has expired, the universities and colleges will fund the endowed chairs for at least 5 more years while setting the same thematic focus.

Further information on the main areas of research, activities and the courses offered by the endowed chairs can be found on the Federal Mobility Forum’s website  (https://www.mobilitaetsforum.bund.de/DE/Fortbildungen/Stiftungsprofessuren/stiftungsprofessuren_node.html) as well as on the websites of the endowed chairs below.
