Electro mobility is currently a focus of the federal government and in particular in the Ministry. The general demand for the transport of electric powered vehicles and recharging of their batteries onboard of roro vessels will increase. Fire safety of the vehicles themselves and the vehicle batteries plays a special role in particular during a recharging process on board. For clarification of the fire situation on board of roro ships, the Ministry has given a fire protection study commissioned which can be viewed here. The Ministry intends to present the findings from the study internationally at IMO and is seeking for internationally uniform handling of electric vehicles on roro ships.
